How to Know if a Watermelon is Ripe – Watermelons are at their best in the summer, which is why they are a staple at barbecues. A bland floury melon, however, does not complement a picnic. Instead of treating the selection of watermelon as a game of chance, choose a juicy, mild specimen each time with simple techniques.
Examine weight and shape
A watermelon, whether it be a size version or a small personal melon, should feel heavy for its size. Also look at the form of the melon; A fruit that is rounded at the ends is usually ripe, while those that are still slightly pointed at maturity and are not ready to be harvested.

If the fix is nonexistent, or you can still see green or strips across the yellow, it’s probably not at its peak.
